Release Date: December 5, 2006
Granite Construction Only Nevada Company to Receive 2006 Diamond Achievement Award
(Sparks, NV)-In honor of Granite Construction Company's long-standing commitment to the community, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) has named the company the recipient of two 2006 Diamond Achievement Awards. Granite has been presented with the prestigious awards in recognition of the performance of the Lockwood Asphalt Plant, located at the Lockwood exit off I80, and the Sparks Asphalt Plant, located at 1900 Glendale Ave. Granite's Nevada Operations will be recognized for this accomplishment at NAPA's 52nd Annual Convention in San Francisco January 17-21, 2007. Granite was the only Nevada company to receive such a distinction. The two facilities recognized were the first in the state to ever be awarded in 2005.
"Earning the Diamond Achievement Commendation serves as a signal to neighbors that a hot-mix asphalt facility is a good neighbor," said 2006 NAPA Chairman Jim Roberts.
The award recognizes hot-mix asphalt production facilities that operate in an exemplary manner based on criteria including appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and compliance, and community relations.
"By earning this award, we have shown our community that we will go the extra mile for excellence," said Rod Cooper, branch manager for Granite's Nevada Operations. "Granite is proud to be a good neighbor to our community in many different ways."
