Carson City, Nev. - On November 1st, 2006, The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) implemented a policy to reduce their overall energy consumption. PUC employees have since cut-out unnecessary energy use. The agency consolidated and upgraded small appliances, installed programmable thermostats and motion light sensors in common areas, and reduced overhead lighting. These simple and inexpensive energy conservation measures have resulted in a 20.5 percent decrease for the month of November resulting in a cost savings of $350.00.
"Everyone needs to do their part to conserve and reduce energy consumption." said Commission Secretary Crystal Jackson, "An energy efficient workplace provides a healthier environment for employees and can increase employee comfort and productivity."
"Our conservation efforts are paying-off." said PUC Chairman Don Soderberg, "We saved ratepayers $350 by cutting back and making sensible decisions."
