Release Date: September 8, 2008

Contact: Stephanie B. Calacal, AVP of Community Development

Plus Credit Union raised $11,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition, several members of the credit union's senior management team participated in the Foundation's recent three-day, 60-mile walkathon. Over the past five years, the Las Vegas-based credit union and its members have donated more than $120,000 to the Foundation, which funds breast cancer research and community outreach programs.

Plus Credit Union President and CEO Carol Schumacher, Chief Operations Officer Kailee Diaz; Vice President of Compliance Diane Camardella, Vice President of Lending Kelly Newman and Assistant Vice President of Community Development Stephanie B Calacal were among those participating in this year's walk against breast cancer in Chicago. Schumacher and Diaz have each participated in five consecutive Foundation walkathons, while this was Camardella's fourth walkathon, Newman's third consecutive time as a participant and Calacal's first time as a participant. The entire credit union staff and many of its members have participated in other fund-raisers for the Foundation, including an annual drawing and silent auctions.

"Everyone has been touched in some way by breast cancer. Imagine a world without breast cancer. No family should lose a mother prematurely. Or a dear friend, sister, wife, daughter, co-worker. None of us, just diagnosed, should have to look at the mirror in the morning and say: Will I survive? Everyone deserves a lifetime: I feel it deep in my heart. It is so gratifying to be able to support a cause so dear to us at Plus Credit Union," Schumacher said.

Plus Credit Union, a not-for-profit cooperative, was founded in 1952. It serves the present and retired union members, as well as select employee groups throughout Southern Nevada. Plus Credit Union has nearly 31,000 members and assets of greater than $123.4 million. For more information, please visit http://www.PlusCU.org.
