Cheyenne Commerce Center Breaks Ground

Harsch Investment Properties recently started construction of Phase 1 of the Cheyenne Commerce Center (CCC), located at the northeast corner of Cheyenne Avenue and Revere Street along the Cheyenne Technology Corridor in North Las Vegas. The CCC will feature 202,311 square feet of industrial and flex space. Situated on 15 acres of land, the project will consist of two phases, with each phase containing two buildings. Ralph Murphy, regional manager for Harsch, said the development will offer smaller spaces designed for local business and will complement the larger buildings along the tech corridor. Phase I includes Building C, which will offer 56,469 square feet, and Building D, which will offer 44,680 square feet. Building C will feature 24-foot clear height, 2.5 spaces per thousand parking, dock- and grade-level access and lease modules of 1,600 to 5,800 square feet. Building D will feature 18-foot clear height, grade-level access and lease modules of 862 square feet and up. The expected completion date for Phase I of the project is May 2004. VLMK is the project’s architect and R&O Construction is the general contractor.

Work Begins on Reno Events Center

A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the $27.5 million Reno Events Center, part of a $65 million two-phased project to develop a special events and convention/meeting venue in downtown Reno. The project is a public-private partnership between the City of Reno, the Reno Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority (RSCVA) and a group of downtown hotel-casino stakeholders. Completion is projected for January 2005. The 118,000-square-foot facility will contain multipurpose space on the first floor that may be used for concerts, sporting events, large dinners or small conventions and trade shows. Additional meeting rooms and suites will be located on the second floor. General contractor for the project is Reno-based Q&D Construction, and the architects are TVS Architecture and the Worth Group. Once completed, the facility will be operated by the RSCVA.

Kitchell Completes Hospital Project

Kitchell Contractors recently completed construction of an expansion project at St. Rose Dominican Hospital’s Siena Campus in Henderson. Kitchell provided construction management and general contracting services for the buildout of the hospital’s fourth floor, which had been left unfinished when the facility was originally built. The 41,000-square-foot project featured the addition of 66 private rooms, including medical, surgical and pediatric rooms, as well as a pediatric intensive care unit, four nursing stations and a playroom and children’s grocery store for the pediatric unit. The architect for the project was Dallas-based HKS, Inc. St. Rose Dominican Hospital is owned by Catholic Healthcare West.

Fallon Business Park Nears Completion

The $1.5 million first phase of the Fallon Business Park is now substantially complete. The commercial complex, situated on over 80 acres, is expected to eventually serve light industrial companies. A&K Earth Movers served as prime contractor for the 40-acre first phase, which began construction late last summer. Fallon and Churchill County hope to house 15 to 20 businesses in the first phase. A second phase is planned for the other half of the parcel, once the first phase has been successfully leased. The business park was developed with the aid of a grant from the Economic Development Administration of the federal Department of Commerce.

Rainbow Sunset Pavilion Underway

Plise Development Companies is constructing Rainbow Sunset Pavilion, a $120 million, 480,000-square-foot mixed-use office and retail property located at the southwest corner of I-215 and Rainbow Blvd. in southwest Las Vegas. The 23-acre master-planned professional office park will feature five buildings of two, three and four stories each and will include retail and restaurant space, a bank pad and a covered parking garage. Office and medical office space is planned to occupy 400,000 square feet of the project, with an additional 80,000 square feet devoted to retail. The first phase, scheduled for completion and occupancy in summer 2004, will include three buildings totaling approximately 62,000 square feet of office and retail space. Plise Development Companies is serving as general contractor, Walker Engineering is the civil engineer and Vedelago-Petsch Architects is architect for the project.
